This Youth Ambassadors program was implemented by the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) at James Madison University, in partnership with Georgetown University's Center for International Education and Development (CIED), as part of the greater program through the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). During the course of three weeks, 27 high-school students and two adult mentors visited from several Latin American countries to JMU to advance mutual understanding between the neighboring regions. The program is designed to facilitate meaningful interactions with host families in the U.S., provide opportunities for service and leadership development, and be a catalyst for positive affiliation and attitude development. During their time here, Youth Ambassadors participated in seminars on leadership, environmental sustainability and intercultural awareness.
